An acrylic painting on wood panel, titled 'Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy', of two young women in white t-shirts with the years '1983' and '1985' on them. The girl in front, with her shorts down, is holding a machete and in her other hand a smart phone is exploding in her face. The girl in the back is holding a red book looking away.

Mary is Happy, Mary is Happy

(2013, Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit)

I randomly found this on YouTube one night but neglected to watch it for a long time now. Lately, I've been enjoying movies that try to portray the mind of a teenage girl. The last one I watched with a similar pace was House. These movies just jump randomly from idea-to-idea, emotion-to-emotion, scene-to-scene with little reasoning. I am really entertained by this type of story telling and it feels fresh (later I learned that the movie is based on 400+ real tweets from an anonymous girl. Cool!). Just as I hoped, the second half goes off the deep-end as Mary tries to cope with various losses. After watching my mind feels a little bit hazy. I like it.
