An acrylic painting on wood panel, titled 'Women Who Flirt', of a woman lying on a blue futon wearing a white jacket and backwards baseball cap with her rear exposed. She is biting down on a dead rabbit that is holding a roman candle that is shooting out green foliage. A bicycle tire dangles from her right arm.

Women Who Flirt

(2014, Pang Ho-cheung)

Not at all a deep-thinking movie like all the rest that I post here but I wanted to showcase it since it was the first movie I got to see while living in China! I didn’t want to watch it but when I discovered Zhou Xun was the leading actress, I realized at least I could watch her do her thing. Not a lot of depth but the story follows a woman who asks her Shanghai friends to make her more femininely approachable. As expected none of their advice works so she is left to figure it out herself. It’s been a fun movie exchange for my Chinese colleagues at least.

An animated gif of a scene from the movie 'Women Who Flirt' showing Angie saying 'I love/hate you' in Chinese with anger in her eyes. A screenshot of Angie (played by Zhou Xun) with blonde hair and a backwards baseball cap, riding a bike with an unknown figure standing on the bike behind her. From the film 'Women Who Flirt'.
