About Love - Taipei

(2005, Yee Chin-yen)

“Taipei” is the second segment in the movie, About Love, which has three segments altogether; Tokyo and Shanghai being the other two. I think “Taipei” is the most honest of the segments about love out of all the rest so I focused on it here. The story involves a Taiwanese woman and her Japanese friend building a shelf late at night and having a major language miscommunication. The director for this segment also directed one of my favorite movies, Blue Gate Crossing. Love is always laced with confusion in these films so that tends to be his theme. Fun fact: the director is also a scorpio like me.
