Seance

(2001, Kiyoshi Kurosawa)

Looks like a made-for-tv movie, judging by the 4:3, but it’s really well-shot. It’s not really a scary movie, more of a simple drama where an innocent couple accidentally commits murder and tries to cover it up but a doppleganger of the victim shows up. The moments that are scary are actually poetic in their execution. The diner scene with the woman in the red dress is the best example of this. Also another great performance from Koji Yakusho.
