The movie is pretty pointless but I’m gonna guess it’s that way to express how contemporary life in China is pretty pointless yet the youth still go about their lives trying to give it some excitement. The scene that defines this point is of two girls dancing at the bus stop for a full 3mins without cutting as the camera gets closer and the music muffles.
